LexisNexis Showcases Big Data to Contain Costs and Improve Health Care Outcomes for National Health IT Week (NHIT)

LexisNexis® Risk Solutions announced today its participation in the National Health IT Week celebration ( September 10-14, highlighting the use of data and analytics to drive down improper payments and ensure appropriate access to health information. Throughout the week a series of eBooks, blog entries and Twitter chats will be offered to elevate national attention to the necessity of advancing health IT specifically as it relates to fraud, waste, and abuse prevention and identity management.

Leaders from LexisNexis will post updates via the Twitter handle @LexisHealthCare and will use the hashtag #LexisHealthITweek. The following are activities planned for each day of National Health IT Week:

Monday, September 10

LexisNexis is sponsoring an eBook: Payers and Providers: Using Data Analytics to Identify Fraud & Waste which provides an in-depth look into the use of data and analytics to prevent fraud.

As Health Insurance Exchanges become more widespread, LexisNexis is working with payers and various levels within the health care supply chain to help prevent fraud and abuse of this emerging technology.

LexisNexis will discuss “5 Fundamentals about Health Insurance Exchanges,” on its health care blog.

Tuesday, September 11

11:00 am: Join a Twitter Chat which will facilitate a dialogue on the importance of Patient Identity Management, at @LexisHealthCare, led by Todd Bennett, Director Market Planning, LexisNexis Risk Solutions.

Wednesday, September 12

11:00am: A new white paper entitled Patient Identity Management: A Dose of Patient-friendly Security for Medical Providers, addressing the importance of deploying identity management wherever electronic medical records and/or patient portals are being leveraged to protect providers and consumers from the fraudulent access and misuse of delicate health information will be published. 11:00 am: Join a Twitter Chat which will engage on the topic of Leveraging multiple data sources and advanced analytics to uncover fraud @LexisHealthCare The discussion will be led by Pam Jodock, Director Business Development, Commercial Health Care.

Friday, September 14

LexisNexis will discuss how modeling and scoring highly predictive attributes and patterns across massive data sets helps uncover fraud in health care programs, “Big data solutions can pinpoint health care fraud,”
