Sweet Half, an amazing sculpture that is getting enough admiration and getting talked about worldwide.
Sweet Half is the most discussed sculpture by Matteo Mauro of this time. It is a life-size sculpture made of Michelangelo statuary white marble. It represents a human trunk divided into two pieces by a fine slit. Sweet Half or Dolce Meta came in front of the world in the year 2020 as the story of the horrific year 2020. The pandemic hit the world has gone through the never expected long quarantine period this past year. And Sweet Half has successfully become the story of people’s loneliness.
It talks about the incomplete life we are leaving every moment. And we have understood this incompleteness in quarantine more than ever. The artist has conveyed, “Sweet Half is a story about love written by Plato and misinterpreted by the whole world.” The sculpture is the symbol of the voidness each of us carries inside. Sweet Half stands for the divided world that imposes division between people basing on race, body and mind.
