SAVANNAH, Georgia – January 6, 2021 – Newell-PSN, a leading manufacturer of High-Voltage Porcelain, Glass and Polymer Insulators, announced the opening of a Quality Control Lab for electrical and mechanical testing of insulators in Savannah, Georgia. The lab was designed to conduct proof and conformance testing for new and existing customers including witness testing as part of their steps for product approval.
The new Facility can run Electrical tests including AC Dielectric Test, AC Hi Potential Test, and Semi-conductive glaze current measurement, along with Mechanical tests utilizing a Tinius-Olsen Mechanical Strength Machine and a Phenix HiPot Tester for Combined Mech-Elec Strength Test (Suspension). Additionally, the Test Facility includes a 55,000 sq ft warehouse distribution center and general offices.
“The Test Facility fills a big need in the space as manufacturers, suppliers and providers of insulators need to verify and certify AC and strength of equipment that is vital to the North American Electric Power Grid”, said Rick Stanley, President of Newell-PSN. “We have heard from our customers and competitors alike, looking for a testing facility”, he continued.
Vice President of Sales, Maurice Lebeau added, “With 55,000 square feet of insulators in stock at our Savannah location, the facility provides Newell with a 5th warehouse center across the United States, helping us to meet the high demand for our products, too.” “The market is ever expanding, and Newell is uniquely positioned for this growth.”
Newell PSN supplies a full line of porcelain and glass suspensions and porcelain distribution porcelain, with design ratings 7.5kV to 765kV, Newell has among the broadest porcelain offerings in the US Market. Mr. Lebeau continued, “All units are provided to meet or exceed ANSI, IEC and IEEE standards and with our comprehensive quality system, the products are extremely reliable. All Station and Line Post units are of 100% solid core construction, unlike others who can only arrive at the required strengths using the old hollow core technology. This Test Facility can help others to determine quality”.
