Hurricane Electric Brings Global Network to Second Location in Calgary

Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Arrow Group's Calgary data center. The new PoP is located at #330 – 840 7th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in the heart of downtown.

Arrow Calgary provides network colocation and wholesale Internet. The data center is strategically located to serve the area's many energy and high-tech businesses. Users can cross connect to tier one providers, as well as the Calgary Internet Exchange (YYCIX), the first IXP in Alberta.

This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s second location in Calgary and sixteenth in Canada and will provide enterprises in Alberta with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management in the delivery of next generation IP connectivity services. Customers of Arrow Group now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility can exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 8,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.

"Hurricane Electric is excited to offer organizations in Calgary another option for cost effective, high speed connectivity,” said Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric. Our partnership with Arrow continues to build on Hurricane Electric’s commitment to provide connectivity across the globe."
