ON Semiconductor Gives Back To the Largest Turkey Drive in the Nation

by Jackie Terry, CSR Program Manager

SOURCE: ON Semiconductor

DESCRIPTION:

ON Semiconductor had the pleasure of sponsoring the 2019 Turkey Tuesday month-long campaign turkeys to feed families in need this holiday season in Phoenix, Arizona, in partnership with 12 News/KPNX-TV and Bashas’ Family of Stores, benefitting the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Arizona.

This is ON Semiconductor’s sixth year being involved with this program and we were so proud to be a part of the largest, one-day turkey drive known in the country. For the past 27-years, Bashas' has held this annual state-wide effort. This year Turkey Tuesday had the largest financial donations ever, which led to the greatest impact in the program’s history.

The charity drive raised a total of $566,229 and more than 100,000 people were able to have food on their tables for the holiday. Also, over 8,000 turkeys were donated and Arizonans donated $470,000 via text, online and at Bashas', AJ's Fine Foods and Food City locations. Additionally, $96,000 was raised through corporate donations, and ON Semiconductor matched 12 News’ donation of $12,000 – so $24,000 was raised together for this agency.

As we honor International Volunteer Day today, as mandated by the UN General Assembly, this is our unique chance to celebrate volunteers and organizations for their tireless efforts and to promote the great work they are doing to make a difference among their communities. We are very proud of the ON Semiconductor employee volunteers that assisted St. Vincent de Paul with feeding those in need at their Phoenix facility on the night before Turkey Tuesday (11/25). Additionally, on Turkey Tuesday (11/26), our team donated $1,000 worth of turkeys to show our support at a local Bashas’ store.

“We want to thank 12 News for the opportunity to work together to grow St. Vincent de Paul’s mission of feeding, clothing, housing and healing individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help. ON Semiconductor was excited to aid in this initiative. It is events like this that allow us to make a real impact because we are able to support local programs that provide more equitable access to basic human necessities,” said Keenan Evans, senior vice president of global quality, reliability, environmental health and safety and corporate social responsibility at ON Semiconductor.
