After Friday's Bell Market Commentary

According to Bernard Schmitt, "On Friday, mild core inflation in May boosted stocks to close higher for a third straight day. The smaller-than-expected increase in U.S. May core consumer prices, which exclude food and energy, followed Thursday's in-line core producer prices index. The core Consumer Price Index rose only 0.1 percent in May. The Labor Department reported that its closely watched Consumer Price Index registered a 0.7 percent increase last month, fueled by a surge in gas prices. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 5.16 percent, down sharply. The dollar fell against the euro but reached a 4-1/2-year high against the yen. Gold for August delivery rose $2.80 to settle at $658.70 an ounce. Crude oil futures settled at $68 a barrel. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 85.76 points, or 0.63 percent, to close at 13,639.48. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 27.30 points, or 1.05 percent, to close at 2,626.71. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 9.94 points, or 0.65 percent, to close at 1,532.91. The Russell 2000 index rose 11 points to close at 848."
